Paul L. Suter, age 100, of Roanoke and formerly of Franklin County, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 in the VA Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 22, 1914, the son of Roland and Bertha (Wheeler) Suter. Paul was a member of Halesford Baptist Church; a veteran of World War II, including Pearl Harbor, D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp; spent 50 years in Florida where he was employed as a bank auditor, comptroller, and compliance officer. On March 6, 1948, in Glen Rock, New Jersey, he was married to Susan Wilsey.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce and his wife, Deborah of Whitesboro, New York and George and his wife, Marcia of Tampa, Florida; a daughter, Paula and her husband Rex of Moneta; four grandchildren, Michelle, Laura, Christina, and Erica; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susan in 2013, and his brother Charles in 2014.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Halesford Baptist Church, 11:00 AM Monday, June 8, 2015 with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Mountain View Memorial Park with Military Honors.
