Phillip Barry “Squirrel” Hodges, age 68 of Ferrum passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. The most enjoyable job he ever held was working with Taylor Enterprises, a job he truly loved.
He was born on July 7, 1948 a son of the late Newton, Sr. and Sue Emma Hodges and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Newton, Jr. and Billy Marvin Hodges; brother-in-law, Charles Hunt; and precious sister-in-law, Ann Yopp Holland.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patty Yopp Hodges; his son, Scott Hodges of Ferrum and his fiancé, Lindsay; sisters, Nora Hunt, Penhook, Carol and Bayes Johnson, Boones Mill; sister-in-law, Juanita Hodges; and special brother-in-law, Walter Holland. He is also survived by a very special young lady, Anna Cooper; and his four legged companion, Max; several nieces, nephews.
The family has requested for those attending the visitation or service, please come in your casual clothing, such as jeans, etc.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home Chapel (Town Chapel) with Pastor Leo Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodges Family Cemetery on North Main Street, Rocky Mount.
The Hodges family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount.
