Phyllis B. Wood

Phyllis Batten Wood age 82 of Boones Mill and formerly of Salem passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 joining her husband in Heaven. Phyllis graduated from Andrew Lewis High School, Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing and also Hollywood Beauty School of Cosmetology. She was also a faithful member of Boones Mill Baptist Church. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on February 22, 1938 a daughter of the late Earl Wilson and Louise Ballard Batten. She was preceded in death on February 4, 2020 by her beloved husband, George H. “Buck” Wood, Jr., and was also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George H., Sr. and Mary Mitchell Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh W. Linnane (Pete); son, Tracy B. Wood (Barbara); grandchildren, Chris Hurd (Carrie), Cody Wood and Kayla Wood; her great-grandchildren, Logan, McKenna and Luke Hurd; and her precious dog, “Jac”. Box 230, Boones Mill, Virginia 24151. A Celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Boones Mill Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Greene officiating.
