Richard (Dick) Lee Brown, 72, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Dick was born October 27, 1944 to the late Richard Walker Brown and Edith Prillaman Brown of Franklin County, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hudson Brown.
Dick graduated from Franklin County High School and then Roanoke Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Betty Sue Hudson of Rocky Mount, on December 10, 1966 and shortly thereafter moved to Lynchburg, Va. where he began a long and successful sales career in the steel industry. In his early years, he served in the Army National Guard and was a volunteer for the fire department. He enjoyed his work and being with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his loving daughters, Courtney Brown (David), Carrie Crockett (Jace); granddaughter, Elizabeth; sister, Joann Poindexter (Jim); brothers, Samuel Brown (Kathy), Michael Brown (Twyla); one niece, three nephews, and many other special friends and family members.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (town chapel) with Pastor Matthew Ricks officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. 540-483-5533.
