Richard Stump

Richard Lewis Stump, born and bred resident of Callaway, Virginia passed unexpectedly at home on the land he grew up on, farmed and tended on January 13th, 2025. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, Other Papaw, cherished brother, friend, cousin, coworker, and community member. 

 Born October, 26th 1968 as the youngest of six children to Christine and Howard Stump(both deceased). He was preceded in death by many other loving friends and family members including his brother Fred Stump, sister Maryanna Argabright, sister Alicia Harris, friend Chuck Wells, cousin Bobby Archer and his nephew Jesse Harris. 

 He will be forever missed and always loved deeply by his wife and Honey Bunny Woman, Toni Stump with whom he spent 35 beautiful years raising 3 kids; Arthur Stump and wife Michelle, Lillian Stump and fiance Benjamin Castillo and Maximillian Stump. His Aunt Beulah Childress and dear sister Kristina Stump have always stood steadfast by his side through loss, love, and life. 

His grandchildren Elliott and Cornelia will always know their Other Papaw as a kind and gentle man who loved the sandbox, legos, tea parties and them with his entire heart. Also left to mourn are Miss Kitty and Big Daddy, his unexpectedly beloved pets.

 There’s not many words to choose from when describing a person after they pass and nothing quite feels good enough, but Richard was loved and love is his legacy. A legacy that was clear and abundant in the immediate response of the community, family, and friends at the moment of his passing. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all.
