Ridley Muse Garner, 89, of Wirtz, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II, and a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather who will forever be remembered as “Pops”.
He was born April 5, 1923, a son of the late Benjamin and Pearl Pickett Garner.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edythe Garner. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Hackett Garner; daughters; Linda Roundtree, June Ann and Ted Ansell, Lisa and Bucky Pinnell and Gina and Ersey Carrow, Stepchildren; Ronnie & Carolyn Beckner, Vickie Campbell, Kim and Charles Crews, Kay Austin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, with Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday from Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. His family will be receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 at Wirtz Road, Rocky Mount.
