Robert "Robby" Daniel Miller

June 29, 1993 — July 21, 2016

“And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all I have is thine.” Luke 15:31 Robert Daniel Miller, Jr. (Robby), age 23 of Moneta, VA, passed away from complications of a lightning strike at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Robby was born on June 29, 1993 in Cheverly, MD, the beloved son of Robert Miller, Sr. and Step-son of Kimberly Atwood, both of Moneta, VA. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Charles Miller, who passed away in 1988, and his “Nanny”, Lucille Lawson. He is survived by his father, Robert Miller, Sr., step-mother, Kimberly Atwood, of Moneta, VA, sister Ashley Miller and niece Cicilia Miller, of Norman, OK, step-siblings Benjamin, Joseph, and Sophie Anderson, of Moneta, VA, granny Helen Miller, uncle Joey Miller, aunt Jody Miller, and aunt Lucille, of Alexandria, VA, step-grandparents Lennie and Janice Atwood, uncle Chris Atwood, and niece Madaline Atwood, of Roanoke, VA, and many more loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and family members throughout Virginia and Maryland. “The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.” Psalms 121: 5-7 Robby was a young man who enjoyed living life, trying new things, always had a song he liked playing in his ear buds, and loved his family. He excelled at baseball, loved to watch football games and Ghost Adventures with his “Pops”, Robert, and enjoyed learning how to cook and garden with his “Moms”, Kim. Always having a goofy grin, or a funny way of saying something, Robby could even get the grumpiest person to smile. His heart was bigger than Texas, and he would willingly offer the shirt off his back to someone in need, even when he had very little to give. He was a wonderful brother and best friends forever with his sister Ashley, protector of Sophie’s special unicorn, and will always be missed as Ben & Joey’s “Bunk Buddy”. He shined in his role as uncle to his niece Cicilia, always ready to play his little “Monkey Girl’s” favorite song. A sincere supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness and organ donation, he advocated for both causes, all because he knew the sadness it caused his family and friends. Granny Helen, Uncle Joey, Aunt Jody, Granny Janice, Grandpop Lennie, Uncle Chris, Aunt “Rachie”, Kathy Smith, and many others, were always there to encourage Robby, to make good decisions, work hard, and stay focused on his goals. Robby had a good, strong heart, was a fighter to the very end and endured more than any child should ever have to suffer through. Robby will be remembered for his loyalty, friendship, and silly sense of humor. Robby will always be loved. His family wishes to thank all who have supported, cared and prayed for him and the Miller family thru this difficult time. To the Burn Trauma ICU team at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, thank you for the impeccable care and comfort you provided our son. You were all truly angels to our boy.
