Roger Coleman Cooper age 63 of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014. Roger was born June 2, 1951 to the late Joe W. and Tillie Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Chris and Angela Cooper; and a sister Anne Cooper Lester. Roger was born and raised in Franklin County having graduated high school in 1970. He was employed in the grocery industry for 30 years and later served as a school bus driver for the public school system until his declining health forced him to retire. Roger was the ultimate handy man and was always there to give a helping hand to those who needed him. Above all, Roger was a Christian and dedicated family man, who never judged anyone and always had a way of making you feel special. His passion in life was people and he will truly be missed by all that knew him. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years Patty Shutt Cooper; son Brian Joel Cooper; four grandchildren Colton, Brittany, Logan and Cameron; special pet Oscar; brothers Ronald Cooper, James Cooper (Betty), and Kenny Cooper; sisters –in-law Nancy Rice of Florida, Martha Moles of West Virginia, Kathy Blasik of Ohio, Sue Frith of Rocky Mount, Rita and Ken Cruse of West Virginia; brother-in-law Joe and Mary Shutt of Bassett; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be conducted from Conner Bowman Funeral Home (Rt. 220 Chapel) 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Mark Griffith officiating. Burial will be private.
