Ronald C. Evans, of Rocky Mount, quietly passed away at home on August 6th, 2015. He was born on January 23, 1947, and raised in Montvale, Virginia. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 1965, attended Ferrum Junior College, then transferred to Virginia Tech where he went on to earn a B. S. in Business in 1969, and received a MBA in Business in 1971. He started his trade with Continental Homes in Boones Mill as a Marketing Assistant and eventually retired as the President and CEO of Nationwide Homes of Martinsville in 2003, as well as Chairman of the Board. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, and also President of the Board at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount. His greatest passion was his work with the Boones Mill Christian Church. As a member of this church, he sang in the choir, served as Deacon, Elder, Trustee, and Chairman of the Board, with Sunday School Teacher being his favorite weekly routine. He also enjoyed being an active participant in the Rotary Club of Rocky Mount, Virginia. He will always be remembered for having the biggest heart, and putting others first. Throughout his life, he brought joy to everybody around him, and never lost his sense of humor, even in his final days. Ellen and “Ronnie” were known for their pure love for one another, still holding hands and sharing kisses after 45 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory “Winnie” and Nina Jamison Evans of Boones Mill, Virginia; and sister, Rebecca Lynn Evans. Surviving family members include his wife of 45 years, Ellen Stultz Evans; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jared Cypher; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Anna Evans; brothers and sisters-in-law, E.W. and Annette Evans, Jerry and Faye Evans; granddaughter, Emory Cypher; and mother-in-law, Peggy Stultz; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 8th, at Boones Mill Christian Church with Rev. Joe Roberts and Rev. Jim Compton officiating.
