Captain Ronald Luther Layman, age 73 of Wirtz, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012. He was born October 18, 1939 to the late Ivy J Layman, Sr. and Helen Jones Layman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Daniel Keith Layman; and one son Nathan Charles Boychuck Layman. Mr. Layman served his country in the US Air force as a Chief Controller during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong member of Fairview Church of the Brethren and will be remembered as a very inspiring person whom touched everyone he met. Surviving are his loving wife Janet Davis Layman; children Nicole Layman Meador (Brian), TSgt. Travis Warren Ayers Layman, Nikki Thornhill Layman, Kelly Hutcherson, Brandon Adkins, Sherry Brewer (Stacy), Cindy McGill (Kurt); grandchildren Mathew Richardson, Michael Crouch, Logan Layman, Cole Layman, Gavin Adkins, Isabel Breeding, Ben Davis, Rodney Hamby, Jena Braley, Jacob McGill and Brent McGill; two great-grandchildren; brothers Ivy J. Layman, Jr. (Ina), Kenneth Layman (Donna); sister Audrey Saul (Arnold); sister-n-law Nettie Jones; and many muched loved foster children and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Spinal Cord Injury Foundation or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted from Fairview Church of the Brethren 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Leonard Martin and Rev. Robert Williard officiating.
