Rose LaVerne Schuellein, age 93, passed away November 23, 2014 in Rocky Mount, Va.
LaVerne was born in Moscow, Idaho to Frank and Christine Grieser on January 8, 1921. She graduated from the University of Idaho in 1942. Over the course of her working career she was employed by both the F.B.I. and the Diplomatic Service serving at posts through the country and around the world. She was also involved in many social activities. Some of these include Freeport Yacht Club, Red Hat Society, New Comers’ Club and many other volunteer services.
She was the beloved wife of George John Schuellein until his passing in March of 1991. She is survived by her two sons; George E. Schuellein and his wife Susan Shea- Schuellein of Narragansett, Rhode Island and Dr. Paul R. Schuellein and his wife Kelly L. Schuellein of Rocky Mount, Virginia. She is also survived by three grandchildren; James E. Schuellein, 23; Brian A. Schuellein, 21, and Heid E. Schuellein, 17. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
The family would like to express their great appreciation both to the private care givers and to the staff of Brandon Oaks, Runk and Pratt and Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for the loving care and support given to LaVerne, during the last season of her life.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home 140, Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA. Burial will follow in Long Island, New York at Calverton National Cemetery.
