Russell Wade Pedigo

Russell Wade Pedigo, Sr. of the Snow Creek community of Franklin County, Virginia passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born April 10, 1938 to the late Benjamin Carlton Pedigo, Sr. and the late Johnsie Hayes Pedigo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Carlton Pedigo, Jr. of Martinsville. He retired from Norfolk Western/Norfolk Southern Railway after 31 years of service. He was a former member of Vinton Baptist Church and a current member of Beulah Baptist Church in Sontag. Prior to his career at the railroad he served in the Navy for four years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roxie (Kitty) Pedigo, and three children, Russell W. Pedigo, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Stuarts Draft, VA, Connie Faye Nowicki and husband Bernie of Eagle River, Alaska, and James Benjamin Pedigo and fiancée Mary Sue Lane of Franklin County. He is also survived by four grandchildren, his brother, Robert Pedigo of Vinton and three sisters, Charlotte Eggleston of Martinsville, Elizabeth Adkins of Danville, and Jean Brown of Martinsville and his mother-in-law Mazie Eames of Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner Bowman Funeral Chapel, Rt. 220 North at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Tom Siddle officiating. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
