Sam Carter, age 83 of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was born September 27, 1932 to the late Henry David Carter and Jenny Blankenship Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Davis, Elbert and Clay Carter; sisters Hazel Pagans, Ruby Blankenship and Lena Goff. Sam was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren and he never had anything bad to say about anyone. He was also devoted to his Wednesday and Sunday night meetings. Surviving is his wife Sue Carter; sons, Wayne Carter, Michael Carter and Todd Carter (Trina); grandchildren Justin, Sydney, Crysta and Alyssa; sister Lois Perdue; sisters-in-law Rose Carter and Mary Lou Carter; brother-in-law Billy Ferguson (Selena); also many nieces, nephews, family and friends that he loved very much. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Town Chapel) 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Eric Anspaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA.
