Shane Mitchell Danise

Shane Mitchell Danise 53, of Rocky Mount, passed away peacefully after a brief and difficult illness, surrounded by family and friends. Shane was his family and friends’ personal chef. His cooking will be missed by all those fortunate enough to taste his elaborate meals, especially his pork; a frequently requested favorite. He excelled at everything he did, whether it was hunting, fishing, bowling, billiards, golf, etc. Shane was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother Eleanor Louise Weeks (nee Eakin); his other grandparents Robert C. Weeks and Mae and Oris Danise; his brother-in-law John E. Douglas, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory are his mother Lee Danise-Nevitt-McCoy; Stepfathers, John A. McCoy and William C. English (Mary Ellen); Brothers, Sheldon Scott Danise (Susan), Stephen Wayne Danise (Christina); Sister, Sharyn Lee Douglas (nee English); Daughter, Heather Michelle Davies; Grandchildren Emilee, Aiden, Ilah, and Kendele; Aunts Carlyn Weisberg and Zita Louise Sherlund (nee Weeks); Nieces, Amber-Lee Hodges (nee English) (Ricky) and Lisa Francisco; Nephews, Benjamin Scott Douglas (Meghan), Samuel K. Douglas (Katlen) and Brian Scott Danise; Great-nieces, Ashlee A. Hodges, Abeegail E. Douglas, Lillee A. Douglas and Baby girl Douglas; Great-nephews, Andrew P. English-Zwolinski, William L. Robertson, Michael E. Francisco, and Jacob B. Douglas; Special Cousins, Matthew Sherlund (Shannon), Robert M. Sherlund; Special friends, Gary and Pam Reeves and Deanna Whitcomb, their children, and many unnamed but honored family and friends. No cut flowers please, but plants or donations will be greatly appreciated. The family will be receiving visitors as they come at Shane’s home. A memorial service will be conducted at Free Saints Holiness Church off of Morgan’s Fork Road in Penhook on Thursday, June 14 at 2:00 pm. Shane’s final resting place will be in Key West, Florida, where the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf of Mexico meet, on July 28, 2012, where his ashes will be tossed by selected family members.
