On Friday, May 11, 2018, Sonya Rene Holland, 48, departed this life unexpectantly at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with her mother, Rena Holland and companion, Brandon Patterson by her side. Sonya was an only child born to the union of Frank and Rena Holland. She graduated from Franklin County High School in 1988 and later graduated from National Business College, Martinsville, VA with an Associate Degree in Business. Sonya was employed by Goodwill Industries for many years as a Case Manager. She thoroughly enjoyed her job dealing with her clients and staff. Sonya accepted Christ and was baptized. She was predeceased by her beloved father, Frank Holland.
Sonya cherished the role of being a mother. She enjoyed raising her sons, Brandon, Nathaniel, and David and cherished time spent with her companion of many years, Brandon Patterson. Sonya realized the importance of family and had begun hosting events to bring family closer together.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Rena Holland, Rocky Mount, VA; sons, Brandon (wife, Monica) Holland, Callaway, VA; Nathaniel Patterson and David Patterson, and her companion, Brandon Patterson, all of the home. Also, a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Pigg River Community Center with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
