Tamra L. Atkinson

Tamra Lynn Atkinson of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her mother Janet Atkinson; nephew, Adam Lee Foutz; brother-in-law, Dana Kreft.  She is survived by her father, Paul Atkinson; sisters, Paula Kreft, Leisa Epperly (Randy), Susan Foutz Gibson (Steve); nephews, Nick Harper (fiancé, Emma), Robert Kreft, Justin Kreft; niece, Sydney Gibson; great-nephew, Jace Harper; honorary niece, Liz McNeil; four-legged best friend, Bean.  She is also survived by other family members and numerous special friends, including life-long friend Jann Corbin.

Tamra graduated from Lord Botetourt High School and attended Radford University.  She retired after working for Verizon for 32 years and later went on to work for the US Postal Service.  Tamra was a die-hard Hokie fan, loved good food, music, and traveling, especially trips to the Greenbrier and the beach.  She was very generous and loved doing things for others, as well as spoiling her niece and nephews by taking them to Virginia Tech football games and on many trips.

Special thanks to Carilion, Blue Ridge Cancer Care and Good Shepherd Hospice for taking exceptional care of Tamra and being there for our family every step of the way.  Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Roanoke Valley SPCA.

Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Mr. Marvin Pugh officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at Oakey’s North Chapel, 6732 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
