Teresita Martinez

Teresita Martinez, 84, went peacefully to be with the Lord Tuesday the 11th of June, 2024 in the presence of family.  Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she moved to New York in the 60’s where she raised her family.   She is preceded by her husband Angel Tomas, and her sons Juan, Humberto, and Angel.  She is survived by her daughter Monsita with her husband Bruce and by her son Daniel with his wife Nora.  Her continued legacy includes six grandchildren, Jessica, Bruce, Rebecca, Ray, Christopher and Stephanie, and her 12 great grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Alex, Samuel, Alexander, Breanna, Autumn, Joshua, Caleb, Bruce, Wynter, Noah and Elijah.

Teresita was an incredible cook and homemaker instilling the values of caring for her family into her children and grandchildren.  One thing she was always known for saying; “strong women raise strong daughters” but in true form, in her heaviest Latino accent, “if you don’t like it, change it!”   She passed down her traditions and skills in sewing, cooking, and crocheting to the generations after her in the hopes they would continue in her family traditions.

She was a treasured member of her congregation with a deep love for the Lord and his desires for her family.  A conversation never transpired where she did not remind you of the love of “Papa Dios” and His desire for you to live for him.  She wrote beautiful psalms that God impressed upon her.

Visitation will be conducted 6-8 PM June 13, 2024 at Conner Bowman Funeral Home and Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery on July 12th on Long Island, New York followed by a celebration of life dinner.
