Terry Alvin Dillon age 87 of Rocky Mount died on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
He was an U. S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War as a Sgt. and was awarded the Bronze Medal for Valor. He retired from the VA Department of Highways with 35 years of service and also worked as a Security Guard at Roanoke Regional Airport for Branch Highways.
Terry was born on August 11, 1931 a son of the late Brady and Josie Dillon and was also preceded in death by his brother, Perry Dillon; and brother-in-law, Ray Flora.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce T. Dillon; his son, Steve Alvin Dillon; granddaughter, Amber Nicole Dillon and fiancé, J.R. Harrison; his pride and joy, great-grandson, Hunter Levi Harrison; sisters, Nancy Foster (Bill), Cynthia Ann Flora; nephew, Andy Flora (Jenny); two nieces, Wanda Foster Green (Ricky), Connie Foster White (James); great niece, Alex Mohler; great-nephew, Jacob Flora. He is also survived by many other family members and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Mickey Witcher, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military honors.
The Dillon Family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Terry had requested that everyone come to the visitation and funeral dressed casual as this was his way of life and living.
