Thelma Morris Delancey

Gone unto her heavenly reward, Thelma Virginia Morris Delancey passed away peacefully on May 31, 2022. She was born on January 26, 1933 to the late James “Nat” and Mamie Gertrude (Jones) Morris. She was also predeceased by her husband, General Jackson Delancey; a son, Barry Jackson Delancey; a daughter, Patsy Jean Morris; a great-granddaughter, Taylor “Tay-Tay” Gibson; and two sisters, Goldie Dillon and Mary Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Sandra (Chuck) Dodd; and two sons, Randy (Debbie) Delancey and Darin (Jim) Delancey. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with two on the way which she gets to meet before the rest of us. Also surviving are nieces, a nephew, and numerous cousins. The family would like to thank the staff, especially the nurses of the 8th and 10th floor at Roanoke Memorial for their wonderful care and patience. They did an exceptional job. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch-Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (town chapel) 3:00 p.m. Friday with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mont, Virginia 24151.
