Thomas Douglas Peters

Thomas Douglas Peters, age 62, of Salem (formerly of Franklin County) passed away Friday, June 22, 2012. He was born January 11, 1950 the son of the late Willie M. Peters and Jerusa Woods Peters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin Peters and infant sister, Judy Peters. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from Steel Dynamics. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Peters of Salem; son, Willie Peters of Burnt Chimney; daughter, Lisa Porterfield; step daughter, Patra Philpott and husband, Jimmy of Salem; one brother, William E. Peters and wife, Wanda of Rocky Mount; five sisters, Hazel Young and husband, Roy of Henry, Malindy Boyd and husband, Thomas of Endicott, Doris Hall and husband, Ronnie of Rocky Mount, Ellen Powell of Rocky Mount, Nancy Peters of Ferrum; four grandchildren, Korie Philpott, Troy Philpott, Maxx Philpott, Landon Peters; lots of nieces and nephews; beloved dogs, Bogie and Jack. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Janney/Peters Family Cemetery on Timber Line Road, Ferrum with Pastor Eddie Hawks officiating.
