Thomas George Ross

Thomas George Ross, 76 went to be with the Lord October 27, 2012. He was born April 26, 1936, son of the late George and Eva Mullins Ross in Akron, Ohio. Tom graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and served in the United States Army. He was employed by BF Goodrich in Brecksville, Ohio until moving to Ferrum, Virginia in 1964. After his move to Virginia, he worked at TRW, Ferrum College, Ferrum Water and Sewer Plant and Mohawk Tire and Rubber Co. in Salem before retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Danville, Virginia in 1986. Tom was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was a friend to everyone he met. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Stiles Ross and his nephew Ross Allen Wilkinson. He is survived by his daughter, Georganne Ross, Willis, Virginia; brother, Doyle Ross (Sandra) of Medina, Ohio; Sister Joyce Wilkinson (Jim) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, his Fiancée Nadine Scott of Endicott, Virginia ; stepdaughter Pat Styles; and numerous other family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 31 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Brian Goard officiating. Interment will follow in the Burnett Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ferrum Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2090, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or Mill Creek Baptist Church, 6200 Henry Rd., Henry, VA 24102. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount.
