Thomas Marion Smith

Thomas Marion Smith, Jr., age 84 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born April 30, 1934 a son of the late Thomas Marion Smith, Sr. and Louise Carter Smith and also preceded in death by his daughter Elaine Marion Smith. He retired from Carilion Clinic and served in the Korean War (U. S. Navy). We would like to thank all the staff of Rocky Mount Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia A. Smith; daughters, Debra S. Zombek (Anthony), Gwen S. Altice (Mike); grandchildren, Jessica Zombek Ferris (Mark), Brian Altice (Carrie), Jason Altice, Mindy Bowman and Hanna Zombek Fontana (Mario); 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Stephen C. Smith; sister, Beverly Fox (Ted) and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3959 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Richards officiating followed by military honors by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 PM prior to the service.
