Thomas "Buford" Underwood

UNDERWOOD Thomas "Buford" Underwood, 85, of Ferrum, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014. He was born October 24, 1928, the son of the late James Montaque Underwood and Effie (Ma) Jones Underwood. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jane Anderson; son, Carlton Stoots, two grandsons, Stacy Stoots, Kevin Stoots; son-in-law, Mild Bill Myers, daughter-in-law, Susan Stoots. He was a truck driver for Rowe Furniture for over 45 years before retiring. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Dene Underwood and his faithful companion, Princess; two daughters, Diane U. Myers, Sandra U. Chatting and husband, Todd; son, Gary E. Stoots and his son, Robert; grandsons, Travis Myers and his daughter, Logan, Troy Myers and wife, Elizabeth and their daughter, Dorothy; four granddaughters, Heather Goodman, Amber Stoots, McKalyla Chatting, McKenzie Chatting, great grandchildren, "too many to mention"; brother, Kyle (Brud) Underwood; two sisters, Vivian Thomas, Polly Dunn; daughter-in-law, Kerry Stoots; caregiver, Terry Riddleberger; special friends, Rodney Saul and Charlie Lee Adkins. Funeral services will be conducted 2 P.M. Tuesday at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Hickson officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
