Tommy Russell Kooken

Thomas Russell (Tommy) Kooken age 38 of Glade Hill and formerly of New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. He was a member of the Southwestern Virginia 4-Wheeler (SWVA4W) Club, owned and operated Fairfield Transmission along with father and then himself in New Jersey prior to relocating in Franklin County. Tommy was currently employed with Carr’s Garage in Salem, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed and loved. By trade he was a Master Transmission Rebuilder. His passion and hobby was his jeep and four wheeling. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Dennis S. Kooken, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Kooken; children, Thomas Russell Kooken, Jr., Katie Lynn Kooken, Deanna Lynn Resch and Holley Elizabeth Resch; mother, Linda Kooken; siblings, Dennis S. Kooken, Jr., Tina Ann Kooken-Sweetman and Stephanie L. Kooken-Buttery. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 from Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Bennett officiating. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 VA Market Place Drive (Route 220 at Wirtz Road) Rocky Mount.
