Vira Iva Shively

Vira Iva Shively, age 90 of Ferrum, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a gracious heart and infectious smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Jathinia Atkins Shively; her loving husband Marvin Walker Shively; a daughter Betty Shively James; a son David Mikel Shively; 3 brothers Emmett, Robert, and Murphy Shively and 4 sisters Nannie Bell Trail, Meda Gillispie, Lola Johnson, and Betty Martin. Surviving are her son Garland Shively(Brenda), a daughter Linda Bowling (Bruce); a son-in-law Thomas James; a brother Junior Shively all of Ferrum; 8 grandchildren Rhonda Shively and her fiancé James Carter, Cheryl Shively Hinkle, (Jim), Douglas Bowling(Tamara), Michael Bowling(Denise),Amy James France (Chad), and Kim James Gibson (Jacob); and 12 Great grandchildren. She loved her church family and was a devoted member of Faith Assembly of God in Ferrum, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crossroads Ruritan Club. Funeral services will be conducted at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home (town chapel) 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 with Rev. Curtis Christian and Rev. Calvin Hickson officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Vira Shively, 499 Thompson Ridge Circle, Ferrum.
