Virgil Thomas Poindexter

Virgil Thomas Poindexter, age 78, of Union Hall, VA passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born on February 23, 1942 in Union Hall, VA. The son of the late Birkwood and Aurie C. Poindexter. He was 1 of 3 children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Mary Jane Poindexter and a sister, Mary Louise Morris. He is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Teresa), Roland (Sara); daughter, Debra (Rick). Grandchildren, Jessica (Justin), Heather (Cassi), Lindsey (Chris), Tabitha, Kaitlyn (Benji), Josh (Hannah), Chelsea (Andy), Robbie (Breanne), Marissa (Carter), Derrick, William. Great Grandchildren, Kielle, Hunter, Layla, McKinle, Kathryn, Adalyn, Mason. Also surviving is his brother, Glen Poindexter; special friend, Sylvia Surber and her daughters, Kim and Penny. As well as numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and friends. Special thanks to Carilion Hospice and Roanoke Memorial Nurses. In his spare time he loved to hunt and his daily mornings at the Whistle Stop. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Long officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Due to the mandates placed by the Governor of Virginia in reference to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we will be following the guidelines for social distancing and masks.
