Dewey Wayne Stone age 72 of Rocky Mount passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Wayne served 38 years with the VA State Police retiring as Sr. Special Agent, and was a Free Mason with Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge No. 201 A.F. & A.M.
He was born September 7, 1945 a son of the late Dewey Hobson and Myrtle Joyce Stone and was also preceded in death by brothers Troy Bernice Stone, Marvin Lynwood Stone and James Randolph Stone.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Mattox Stone; daughter, Amy Stone Quinn; son, Christopher Wayne Stone (Lalainya); his grandchildren, Logan, Samantha and Ethan. He is also survived by his brothers, Lonnie Stone (Nancy), Larry Stone, David Stone (Deborah); sisters, Mildred Rogers, Jean Maxey (J.E.), Myra Barbour (Butch); brother-in-law, Eugene Mattox (Ruth); many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Chaplain Keith Gregory, VA State Police officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. At the request of the family, Masonic Rites will be held at the conclusion of the service in the chapel.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 18th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
