Wayne J. Tiso, age 64, of Smith Mountain Lake, formerly of Prince William County, VA died December 12, 2012 at home surrounded by family. Mr. Tiso was born and raised in New Jersey; he was preceded by his parents Sebastian and Rita (Siccardi) Tiso. He is survived by Roseann D’Amico Tiso his loving wife of 33 years, one daughter Jennifer Tiso Orlando and her husband Robert Orlando, one Grandson Anthony Wayne Orlando of Barboursville, VA, one Brother Bruce S. Tiso of Fairfax, VA, several Nephews and Nieces and several Great Nephews and Nieces.
Mr. Tiso served 3 and ½ years as a Sergeant in the U S Army during the Viet Nam era, both overseas and in the USA, he was later a U S Army Investigator assigned the 8th Army (Korea). Mr. Tiso was employed by the U S Secret Service (UD) from 1974 until he retired in 1994: he was assigned to the White House Division from 1981 to 1991 where he spent time doing magnetometer advances for both the Presidential and Vice Presidential details. After retirement he was employed by the Prince William County Schools as a Security Assistant at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, VA . During this time he also coached basketball and lacrosse at the school, retired from the school in 2003 and moving with his wife to Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
Mr. Tiso was a lifelong boater spending many years cruising the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay on his beloved cruiser “After Hours”, later he and Roseann spent winters cruising the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise ships. He was Past Commodore of the White Point Yacht Club, Kinsale, VA. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and belonged to the UD Riders of Washington, DC. In addition he was a member of the FOP Lodge 1 DC, Retired Police of DC, Uniformed Division Retired Association, Association of Former Agents of the U S Secret Service and American Legion Post 364 Woodbridge, VA
Graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January, 7, 2013 at Valleau Cemetery, 660 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. to join his Grandparents, Great Grandparents and Great Great Grandparents.
