Billy Chitwood

William Carter "Billy" Chitwood age 79 0f Rocky Mount went to be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 14, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on September 8, 1945, a son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Chitwood. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Carter Chitwood; and his second wife, Tracey Hodges Chitwood; sisters, Betty Brown (Bill), Beulah Spencer (Troy); brothers-in-law, Billy Bousman and Wayne Crews; niece, Deborah Myers; nephews, C. W. Bousman, David Spencer, Roger Spencer and Douglas Spencer.

Billy was a loving father, grandpa, brother and friend to all. He was an avid hunter and really loved the outdoors and was a member of the famous Breakfast Club at Dudley's Truckstop and was the former Plant Manager for Bassett Superior Lines. He lived his life as a Christian and will always be remembered for his kind and loving heart.

He is survived by loving son, Carter Chitwood (Tammy); his wonderful grandchildren, Jared Layman, Kaylee Chitwood and Anna Chitwood; brothers, Danny Chitwood (Sue), Sammy Chitwood (Pauline); sisters, Naomi Bousman and Sandra Crews; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Wilkerson, Greg Chitwood, Johnathan Moore, Beth Davis, Jenny McGhee, Ashley Moore, and Travis Moore. He is also survived by his special friends, Larry McCarty and Lee Arrington, and other family, friends including his church family at Franklin Heights Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Franklin Heights Church (Rocky Mount Campus) with Pastor Stan Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM at the church.

The family will accept flowers, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Franklin Heights Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 in his name.
