William Richard (Bill) Keenan of Hardy Virginia passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife Irma and their six children at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his children: Ernest (Eileen), John- Peter (Christy), David (Lesley), Deborah, Lisa (Wesley) and Christine (Julian), grandchildren, Joel, Samuel, Joshua, Rachel, Wesley II, Jared, Colston, Joseph, Daniel, Alexandra, William, Sophie, Beatrice and Elizabeth, and great grandchildren, Caleb Jr. and Eloise.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Keenan, mother, Mary Keenan, brother, Thomas Keenan Jr., and grandsons, Andrew William and Caleb Mark.
Bill graduated from Pace University and later, Virginia Western Community College. After running two successful delicatessens in New York City, he and his wife moved to Hardy, Virginia in 1981. The family operated the Good Shepherd’s Inn in downtown Roanoke. He then found his true passion – real estate and real estate appraisal. Bill and Irma co-owned Heritage Appraisal Services and spent the last 17 years together running the business they loved.
The family will greet visitors on Sunday April 24 between the hours of 1pm and 3 pm at Conner Bowman Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
A memorial service will take place immediately after visiting hours.
The Keenan family wishes to thank the ICU doctors, nurses and staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their compassion and professionalism.
