Yvonne Carter Chitwood

Yvonne Carter Chitwood, age 61 of Rocky Mount went Home to be with her personal Lord and Savior on Monday, May 2, 2011. Through her recent illness, her amazing Faith in God kept her going especially through the rough times. Knowing that Jesus was there in her walk was a true inspiration not only to her, but to everyone that came into her life. She lived her life with God being number one and challenged everyone to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. She was born September 8, 1949 a daughter of the late Fred Carter and Mildred Bowling. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Bill Bowling; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bill and Betty Brown; brothers-in-law, Wayne Crews and Troy Spencer. Yvonne is survived by her husband, William C. Chitwood (Billy); son and daughter-in-law, Carter and Tammy Chitwood; her canine companion, Chipper; her grandchildren, Jared Layman and Kaylee Chitwood; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beulah Spencer, Naomi and Billy Bousman, Danny and Sue Chitwood, Sammy and Pauline Chitwood, Sandra Crews; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Special thanks are extended to Karen and Bobby Haskins, Gene and Bernice Moyer, Roger and Laura Sowers, Mary Kreider, Matt and Amanda Billups, Kingdom Seeker Sunday School Class and Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted from Franklin Heights Baptist Church Main Sanctuary 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 with Dr. Stan Parris and Dr. Matt Billups officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to Franklin Heights Baptist Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
